Step-by-Step Setup Guide
Subscribe & Get Your License Key
Subscribe to a SteadyFlowFX plan via Whop and receive your personal subscriber key.
Your subscriber key is delivered via email immediately after subscribing. This key gives you access to download the EA and authenticate it with our servers. Keep your key safe — you will need it for download and configuration.
How to get your subscriber key:
- • Visit the Pricing page and choose a plan
- • Complete checkout via Whop
- • Check your email for your subscriber key (arrives instantly)
- • Use the key in the download section above to get the EA file
Next step: Once you have your subscriber key, scroll up to the download section and paste it there to download the EA file.
Install the EA in MetaTrader 5
Extract the downloaded EA file and place it in your MetaTrader 5 data folder.
After downloading the EA using your subscriber key above, you will have a zip file containing the compiled .ex5 Expert Advisor that needs to be installed in MT5.
Installation steps:
- After downloading the EA zip file from the download section above, extract it to get the .ex5 file
- Open MetaTrader 5 and go to File → Open Data Folder
- Navigate to the MQL5/Experts/ folder
- Copy SteadyFlowFX_Copier.ex5 into the Experts folder
- Restart MT5, or right-click Expert Advisors in the Navigator panel and select Refresh
Common mistake: Placing the file in the wrong folder. Make sure it goes in MQL5/Experts/ — not MQL5/Indicators/ or MQL5/Scripts/.
Attach EA to a Chart
Drag the EA onto a chart, enter your subscriber key, and configure your settings.
The EA only needs to be attached to one chart. It copies all trades regardless of which chart it is on.
Setup steps:
- Open any chart (e.g., EURUSD) — it does not matter which pair
- In the Navigator panel, expand Expert Advisors and find SteadyFlowFX_Copier
- Drag it onto the chart (or double-click it)
- In the popup dialog, go to the Inputs tab

Final steps:
- Click OK to attach the EA
- Make sure AutoTrading is enabled — look for the green play button in the MT5 toolbar
- You should see a smiley face icon in the top-right corner of your chart, confirming the EA is active
Important: If AutoTrading is off (red icon), the EA cannot open or close trades. This is the most common reason trades fail to copy.
Verify Connection
Confirm the EA has connected successfully and is ready to copy trades.
Check the Experts tab at the bottom of MT5 for connection status messages.
What to look for:
- In the Experts tab (bottom of MT5), look for:
[INFO] Connected to SteadyFlowFX - The on-chart dashboard panel shows: connection status, current P/L, win rate, and balance
- The EA polls for new trades every 2 seconds — you should see periodic log messages
Tip: If you see errors, check these three things: (1) your internet connection is working, (2) your license key is correct, (3) AutoTrading is enabled (green button).
VPS Recommendation
For reliable 24/5 trade copying, run MetaTrader 5 on a VPS.
A VPS ensures your EA stays connected even when your computer is off.
Why use a VPS?
- No missed trades — the forex market runs 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. A VPS keeps MT5 running around the clock.
- No power or internet disruptions — your home PC might lose power or internet. A VPS in a data center has redundant connections.
- Low latency — VPS servers near broker data centers reduce execution delays.
Tip: Forex VPS services typically cost $10–30/month. Look for providers that offer Windows Server with MT5 pre-installed and at least 2GB RAM.
Troubleshooting FAQ
"Subscriber Key is empty"
The EA needs your subscriber key to authenticate. Double-click the EA on the chart to open settings, go to the Inputs tab, and paste your key into the Subscriber Key field. Your key was sent to your email after subscribing.
Fix: Open EA settings → Inputs tab → paste your subscriber key → click OK.
EA not showing in Navigator panel
The .ex5 file is not in the correct folder, or MT5 has not refreshed its file list.
Fix: Verify the file is in MQL5/Experts/ (not Indicators or Scripts). Then restart MT5 or right-click Expert Advisors → Refresh.
Trades not being copied
If the EA is connected but trades are not appearing, the issue is usually AutoTrading being disabled.
Fix: (1) Check the AutoTrading button in the toolbar — it must be green. (2) Check the Experts tab for error messages. (3) Make sure your broker account has trading privileges enabled.
Connection error in Experts tab
The EA cannot reach the SteadyFlowFX server. This is usually a network or firewall issue.
Fix: (1) Verify your internet connection. (2) Check if your firewall or antivirus is blocking api.steadyflowfx.com. (3) If on a VPS, ensure outbound HTTPS (port 443) is allowed.
