Fundamental Analysis

Interest Rate

The cost of borrowing money, set by central banks.

Full Definition

Interest rates are set by central banks and significantly impact currency values. Higher rates attract foreign investment seeking better returns, strengthening the currency. Lower rates make borrowing cheaper but may weaken the currency. Rate decisions by the Fed, ECB, BOJ, and other central banks are major market-moving events.
